I was also rather put off by Lestat’s descriptions of Dora menstruating. This opening is slow and dragging and absolutely dull, and seems to have no connection to the story itself. Lestat soon finds himself entangled in Dora and her future as a television preacher. Roger’s only interesting qualities are his obsession with religious artworks and his love for his daughter, Dora. The story opens not with Lestat meeting Memnoch, but with him stalking his latest victim, a drug dealer named Roger. Unfortunately, this book just didn’t live up to my hopes. Given how many times he’s compared himself to the Devil, it’s a seemingly perfect match. I was genuinely intrigued by the premise of this novel! Lestat and the Devil teaming up is exactly the sort of thing the brat prince is capable of. Let me open with a statement about myself: I attended a Christian school for 8 years, and went to church every Sunday as a kid, and still attend semi-regularly as an adult. But will Lestat seize the chance to save his soul? Review Lestat finds himself travelling outside of time with the fallen angel to witness Heaven, Creation, and Hell. The man introduces himself as Memnoch and claims to be the Devil himself, and that he needs Lestat’s help. Lestat finds his beliefs turned on their head when a strange man approaches him one night.
